How Book of Ra Magic plays
Magic is the next chapter of the Book of Ra series, and its twist is all in the Free Games.
The base game: wins from two symbols#
Book of Ra Magic plays on five reels with up to 10 win lines. The aim is to line up identical symbols next to each other from left to right, and the smallest wins start early: depending on the symbol, two or three matching symbols from the leftmost reel already pay. Five of a kind is the top result on any line.
The Book is the symbol that ties it all together. It is the scatter, and it also substitutes for every other symbol to form winning combinations, with one exception: the Special Expanding Symbols of the Free Games. Three or more scattered Books anywhere on the reels open the bonus round.
Free Games that grow#
Three or more scattered Books award 10 Free Games. Before the first game, the first Special Expanding Symbol is revealed at random. Whenever it lands during the round, it covers all positions on its reel, which lifts the chance of a winning line across the screen.
The magic starts with the retrigger. Three or more scatter symbols during the Free Games retrigger the round, and each retrigger brings a second, third and further expanding symbol into play, to a maximum of nine in one feature. The longer the round runs, the more symbols can spread across the reels at once.
Why the growing round matters#
In most Book of Ra editions the bonus round depends on one random pick. In Magic, a modest first symbol is only the opening move. A retrigger brings another symbol into play, and with several of them active, expanded reels can line up more often than in a one-symbol round. Combined with wins that start from two matching symbols, the round has more ways to build.
That design keeps the familiar Book of Ra tension and adds a sense of progress inside the feature. Novomatic rates Magic 5 on its volatility scale, the same as Classic and Deluxe, so the big moments still arrive in uneven waves.
Who Book of Ra Magic suits#
Magic is the edition for players who love the bonus round above everything else. The base game stays close to the original, five reels and a familiar cast, while the Free Games become a feature that can build on itself. If the moment you enjoy most in Book of Ra is watching an expanding symbol fill the reels, Magic gives you the chance to see several of them at work in the same round. Players who prefer a different board can try the sixth reel of Deluxe 6 or the extra line of Deluxe instead.
