Book of Ra Deluxe, explained
What the Deluxe edition changes, how its wins and Free Games work, and how to get the most from the free demo.
What Deluxe changes#
Novomatic built Book of Ra Deluxe as the follow-up to the 2005 original, and it keeps everything that made the first game work: the explorer, the tombs of the pyramids, the golden Book and a bonus round driven by an expanding symbol. The headline change is the line count. Deluxe plays 10 lines on five reels, one more than the original, so every spin covers a little more of the board.
The game also sits at 5 on Novomatic’s volatility scale, which puts it at the lively end of the range. Long stretches of small wins are part of the rhythm, and the Free Games carry the biggest moments. Deluxe plays in desktop and mobile browsers, so the same session moves easily between screens.
How a Deluxe win comes together#
The aim is to land matching symbols side by side along an active line. Wins start on the leftmost reel and run to the right, and the symbols must sit next to each other with nothing in between. Five of a kind on a line is the top result for any symbol.
The Book changes the arithmetic. It substitutes for every other symbol, so it fills gaps in lines that would otherwise fall short. In the demo’s opening frame, two Queens and a Book on one line pay as three Queens: the Book takes the missing place. Watch for the Book on the right-hand reels as well, because it can complete a line on any of the 10 paylines.
The Free Games in Book of Ra Deluxe#
Land three or more Books anywhere on the reels and the Free Games begin: 10 of them, played without touching your balance. Before the first game, one symbol is picked at random to be the Special Expanding Symbol for the whole feature. When that symbol appears during the round, it expands to cover its reel, and the paytable screen inside the game confirms the feature as 10 Free Games with a Special Expanding Symbol.
That random pick is what makes every round different. A high symbol such as the explorer can turn a few expanded reels into the win of the session, while a card symbol keeps the round steadier. Either way, three Books are all it takes to start the feature, wherever they land.

Using the free demo#
The demo on this page is the full Deluxe game with fun credits. Confirm in the provider’s window that you are 18 or older, then use START for single spins, AUTO for automatic spins and MAX BET for the top stake. MENU opens the paytable shown above: it lists what each symbol pays at your current bet and explains the Book and the Free Games in the game’s own words.
A good first session is a few hundred spins at a steady bet. Note how often the Book appears and what the expanding symbol does when the Free Games arrive. For a guided tour of every button, open the Book of Ra deluxe demo page; to rehearse a full session, use the free play page.
Deluxe for real money#
When you know the game, the play buttons on this page open our partner casino, where Book of Ra Deluxe runs with real stakes. A welcome bonus is credited automatically after you register and make your first deposit there, under the casino’s terms. The where to play Book of Ra page lists the checks worth making first, and on mobile, Play Book of Ra on your phone shows the browser route.
Who Book of Ra Deluxe suits#
Deluxe is the natural pick for players who like the original but want a little more action on every spin. The tenth line spreads each stake across one more way to win, the Book and the Free Games behave as fans expect, and the volatility stays at the top of Novomatic’s scale for those who enjoy the wait for a big round. It is also the easiest Book of Ra edition to learn with fun credits, because the full game runs as a demo right here. Players who prefer a calmer ride can look at Deluxe 10, rated 2 on the same scale, on the versions page.
Deluxe and the rest of the family#
If one extra line is the change you like, the series has more to offer. Deluxe 6 adds a sixth reel through Extra Bet, and Magic adds a new expanding symbol with every retrigger. The 9-line original is on the Book of Ra slot page, and the full family is compared on the Book of Ra versions page.
